Secretary-General of the Ministry of Peshmerga Jabbar Yawar said Thursday that the Peshmerga forces had recently begun conducting a joint field survey with the Iraqi army in the disputed areas between Erbil and Baghdad.

Major General Yawar said in a statement to the ministry's website that the joint committees plan to conduct a field survey of these areas and thus create what will become a confrontation line for the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army. "

The statement comes after weeks of multiple rounds of meetings between the ministry and the Iraqi army, where the two sides agreed to form two high-level committees charged with facilitating coordination and cooperation between the two sides in providing security in the disputed areas.

Yawar added that the committees are involved in a continuous operation in Tuz Khurmato and Kefri.
