Turkey announces the killing of 51 members of the PKK

The Turkish Ministry of Defense on Saturday announced the killing of 51 militants in the military operation launched since late last month against PKK positions in the Kurdistan region.

The ministry said on its Twitter page that "the number of militants killed reached to 51 in the Hakurk region in the Kurdistan region since the start of the military operation on May 27, after the killing of two gunmen on Saturday."

The Turkish army launched "Claw" operation in the Hakurk region of the Kurdistan region on May 27 using artillery and aerial bombardment and the special forces teams.

The PKK is based in several areas of the Kurdistan region, especially in the Qandil area south of Hakurk.
